Ten Features that Will Help Your Home Sell Faster

The National Association of Realtors identified ten features that seem to help a house sell more quickly and for a better price.  According to a survey completed in February, many homeowners are spiffing up their homes, either to keep or to sell.

If a home is not remodeled or does not have qualities a buyer wants, the buyer will make a lower offer to compensate for the lack of those items.

These features are:

  1. A gourmet kitchen, home theater,  in-home gym, 3-car garage, solar panels, quartz countertops, smart home, office, swimming pool, a tennis court, and exterior lighting.

The Rosemary District is Booming

The area north of downtown Sarasota, Florida was a blight in the past to the growing cultural and social scene of Sarasota.  In the past few years, this neighborhood, known as the Rosemary District, has regentrified and is now a destination for new residents from all over Sarasota, its keys, and even from all over the world.

Dozens of new low-rise condo developments and hundreds of apartments have been built in the past couple of years, and property values have soared.  One of the new projects is Risdon on Fifth, a modern urban building with green space.  

Eclectic restaurants, boutiques, fitness centers, a contemporary dance and a yoga studio have moved to the area.  The Sarasota Opera has a brand new building, and the Sarasota Farmers Market now has a presence.



New Plans for Downtown Sarasota's Bayfront

Plans for the redevelopment of downtown Sarasota's Bayfront are making steady progress.  This area owned by the City of Sarasota and comprising former GWhiz, the Van Wezel, the Sarasota Orchestra and the large parking area will be have a new face, in keeping with the upscale nature of the surrounding downtown area.

The value of the parking area alone and next to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, which was originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is huge with its location directly on Sarasota Bay.   Plans for Sarasota Bayfront, as it is known, are to raise the base elevation several feet.  The intention is to provide amenities for the public with the goal of a healthier Sarasota Bay.

Sarasota Rated by US News & World Report

The town of Sarasota, Florida came in second of all towns in Florida for the 2018 best place to live in a survey by US News & World Report.

Attributes that helped the area achieve this position are warm year-round average temperatures, beautiful beaches, outdoor activities, and availability of diverse cultural activities  Business opportunities and attractive tax incentives also attract new residents, along with affordability and availability of jobs.

Sarasota, Florida cannot be beat for a small town atmosphere with big town offerings.

Laundry Rooms in the New Age

Today's laundry rooms are real rooms, some as large as a small living room.  This one features wallpaper, plenty of shelving, rods for hanging and large countertops and storage.
Some feature mud rooms and a sitting area or built-in bench.  Many new laundry rooms now include sophisticated finishes.

Canadian buyers taking bigger role in Florida real estate purchases

Due to the cold winters in north America, Canadians are purchasing more real estate in south Florida.  Despite the poor exchange rate and recent hurricanes in Florida, Canadians are not concerned and have increased their vacation home purchases of real estate in Florida.  

Purchases of real estate in south Florida by Canadians were close to 10 percent of total purchases by foreign buyers in 2017 and double what they spent in 2016 in the United States as a whole.

Sarasota Is One of the Best Places to Maintain Wealth in the Country

Over the past five years Magnify Money found that Sarasota residents pay the highest amount in capital gains taxes in the country.  This fact indicates that this population owns the highest amount of investments, which are taxed when sold, such as stocks, bonds, property, and businesses.  This finding further indicates that the Sarasota area is one of the best places to maintain wealth.
